Meandering through the seasons of this year ‘In the company of men’ is a photo-montage of the people and spaces of this transitional period in a cold war citizens construction. Between the performative spaces of the family and the military/ social environment the photographer, soon to be adult, moves from the parental shelter through the spectacle of national defence. A slow meditation on gestures, gazes and the performance of cohesion, defence, and masculinity within a male hierarchical environment.
