The publication Secure Learning and Culture Environments: Making Cultures in Art Schools was commissioned by the ArtEZ Studium Generale APRIA platform. In it we share some of the learning that has happened over the past couple of years in processes of formalising social conduct and behavioural structures to create a culture of accountability and trust in shared spaces. Much of the publication is directed to the specific social and professional needs of working in art schools, but is also relevant in other organisations and communities.
Many spaces and communities have been addressing the question of how to construct the social spaces they need to do what they do. Here we reflect on some of these experiences and processes, and bring together some of the learning that has been taking place in response to the need to critique and re-build accountability and trust.
Includes interviews with arts educators and guidance on considerations to introduce when codifying accountable learning environments.
